About me
In 2001 at the age of 19 I began studying Physiotherapy at the University of Southampton. Two years later, in 2003 I sustained a severe Traumatic Brain Injury and withdrew from the course. I returned to study in 2007. In 2010 I achieved a BSc Health and Social Care Studies at Plymouth University. I continued my studies and achieved an MSc Social Research in 2011 and recently completed (2014) a PhD at The Open University.
I find great pleasure in helping people who have had similar life-changing events in their lives. I was recently delighted to hear about the comfort a fellow brain injury survivor took from reading my academic work.
I am a trained academic researcher and I am primarily interested in social science and health research, teaching and learning and experiences of ill health and disability.
